![]() I went to one of my nearest beaches with rocks to paint this. (In this case Crystal Cove) and sat on the beach in flat light for three hours and painted this. Painting in flat light (usually late morning or at noon.) is something I usually try not to do. Later, at my studio I added a few things from memory like the sandbar going up the face of the wave, darkend the rocks shadows, and more or less improved the lighting. I put it away and actually had to forgive myself for painting in flat light so I could move on. By doing that I got lots of ideas to add to it. I like the colors thniking that maybe it would look good in a house that has dark wood or dark walls maybe with a seafoam green theme. "Ebbs and Flows"12x24 oil on canvas
