Crystal Cove beach is one of the last natural unpolluted beaches in Southern California. You can walk on this beach and see a good stretch of coastline with interesting rocks. The water really is crystal clear and is quite nice to swim in, in the summer. This paing really glows and has texture on the rocks you can see this in person at the SoCal PAPA Gallery on Balboa Island, Newport Beach, California. 8x16 oil on linen canvas. click here for gallery info

A cool winter morning at Seal Beach on the south side of the pier. It takes me about ten minutes to get from the house to this beach. I wonder why I have to drive an hour in traffic to paint Laguna Beach when we have a lovely beach here. This is the south side of the pier in Seal Beach. "South Side Breaker" Take off your shoes and walk in the refreshing water . 9x12 to see more local beaches click here

My studio in Southern California stays very cold in the winter. I find it easier to go outdoors to paint and to get warm. I often seek out places that that are quiet and serene as well as sheltered from the wind. I am not the type of painter that would brave the snowy mountains to do a painting. But, I have managed my gear so that I can hike a good distance from the car. This the Back Bay in Newport Beach. It will be on display in April at the Muth Galery at the Newport Back Bay preserve. (9x12 oil on panel)
